First, it's a picture of me swinging an 88lb Kettlebel, the heaviest one we have in the gym. ----- Second, it's a picture of me in the worst possible light from the worst possible angle: from the side with my hair up. From the front, I can almost pretend I'm like everyone else, for my curves and shape are alluring even to the worst hater. But from the side, there's just no hiding the lumps and bumps and the fact that I am still a very big woman. ----- Third, it represents a moment in time where someone showed me a picture of myself and I didn't immediately get angry at the woman in the photo. Instead, I had this thought of "Hmmm... That's me doing something I love. My body is just my body." And for hours I stayed in that mind frame. Then suddenly, the other tape started playing. The tape that tells me I'm unworthy, I'll never make it, no one will ever love me. ----- Tonight, I'm saying a big old "eff you" to those voices. That woman, that big woman in the bad lighting with her hair up? That's me - doing something hard, doing something I couldn't do two years ago. Heck, I probably couldn't do it five years ago. That girl in the picture? That's me, taking control of my life, 150 lbs lighter, working my butt off, sweating up a storm, all in the name of LIFE. ----- The girl in that picture has swam three miles straight, benchpressed 205lbs, deadlifted 285lbs, cleaned 90lbs, squatted over 100lbs, rowed five miles and just learned she can do Plyo push-ups. And she's done it in that body. ----- So, tonight, with a clearer head and a loud voice, I say to the girl in the picture "You go girl. You got this!" ----------
